The Wild Ghats Brewing Guide
Great coffee starts with great beans — but it ends with how you brew them. Here's our guide to getting the best from every Wild Ghats roast.
French Press
Best for: Monsoon Roast, Midnight Ghats, Wild Estate
- Use coarse grind — roughly the size of sea salt
- Water temperature: 93–96°C (just off the boil)
- Coffee ratio: 1:15 (1g coffee per 15ml water)
- Add coffee, pour water, stir gently
- Steep for 4 minutes
- Press slowly and serve immediately
Pour Over (V60 / Chemex)
Best for: Mist Valley Blend, Rainforest Reserve, Wild Estate
- Use medium-fine grind
- Water temperature: 90–94°C
- Coffee ratio: 1:16
- Bloom: pour 2x the coffee weight in water, wait 30 seconds
- Pour in slow, circular motions over 3–4 minutes
- Total brew time: 3:30–4:00 minutes
Espresso
Best for: Monsoon Roast, Midnight Ghats
- Use fine grind — smooth like table salt
- Dose: 18–20g for a double shot
- Water temperature: 92–94°C
- Extraction time: 25–30 seconds
- Target yield: 36–40g espresso
South Indian Filter
Best for: Midnight Ghats
- Use fine-to-medium grind
- Fill the upper chamber 3/4 full
- Press the disc lightly — don't compact too hard
- Pour near-boiling water slowly
- Allow 10–15 minutes for full decoction
- Mix 1 part decoction with 2–3 parts hot milk
AeroPress
Best for: Rainforest Reserve, Mist Valley Blend
- Use medium-fine grind
- Coffee ratio: 1:12 (concentrated)
- Water temperature: 85–90°C
- Steep for 1–2 minutes
- Press slowly over 30 seconds
- Dilute to taste with hot water
Storage Tips
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- Keep the bag sealed between uses — our nitrogen-flushed bags lock freshness
- Best consumed within 30 days of opening
- Never refrigerate ground coffee — moisture destroys flavour
