The Wild Ghats Brewing Guide

Great coffee starts with great beans — but it ends with how you brew them. Here's our guide to getting the best from every Wild Ghats roast.

French Press

Best for: Monsoon Roast, Midnight Ghats, Wild Estate

  1. Use coarse grind — roughly the size of sea salt
  2. Water temperature: 93–96°C (just off the boil)
  3. Coffee ratio: 1:15 (1g coffee per 15ml water)
  4. Add coffee, pour water, stir gently
  5. Steep for 4 minutes
  6. Press slowly and serve immediately

Pour Over (V60 / Chemex)

Best for: Mist Valley Blend, Rainforest Reserve, Wild Estate

  1. Use medium-fine grind
  2. Water temperature: 90–94°C
  3. Coffee ratio: 1:16
  4. Bloom: pour 2x the coffee weight in water, wait 30 seconds
  5. Pour in slow, circular motions over 3–4 minutes
  6. Total brew time: 3:30–4:00 minutes

Espresso

Best for: Monsoon Roast, Midnight Ghats

  1. Use fine grind — smooth like table salt
  2. Dose: 18–20g for a double shot
  3. Water temperature: 92–94°C
  4. Extraction time: 25–30 seconds
  5. Target yield: 36–40g espresso

South Indian Filter

Best for: Midnight Ghats

  1. Use fine-to-medium grind
  2. Fill the upper chamber 3/4 full
  3. Press the disc lightly — don't compact too hard
  4. Pour near-boiling water slowly
  5. Allow 10–15 minutes for full decoction
  6. Mix 1 part decoction with 2–3 parts hot milk

AeroPress

Best for: Rainforest Reserve, Mist Valley Blend

  1. Use medium-fine grind
  2. Coffee ratio: 1:12 (concentrated)
  3. Water temperature: 85–90°C
  4. Steep for 1–2 minutes
  5. Press slowly over 30 seconds
  6. Dilute to taste with hot water

Storage Tips

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Keep the bag sealed between uses — our nitrogen-flushed bags lock freshness
  • Best consumed within 30 days of opening
  • Never refrigerate ground coffee — moisture destroys flavour
